My Phone Holder
Redefine the functionality.
Objective
The objective of this project is to design a creative phone holder, and the sole restriction is that it must fit within the confines of a 3x3x3-inch space.
I thought that would be a great idea to make it more universal, usable from lots of users with different phones and cases. Because of this I created 2 slots, with different widths. And then I thought, why not make it suitable for another type of device, such a calculator or an iPad? I came up with the design that you can see on the left.
Design
This design has two different slots widths, one is 0.43 in while the other is 0.5 in. I tried several times to find the 20 deg angle that allows the user to use the phone while on the table and that doesn’t allow the phone to tip over during the usage. To make it more pleasant and easy to clean, I used the fillet future to make the inside angles curved, so that dust and dirt does not stuck.
Creation
The 3 prototypes that you can see below are 3D printed in SLA and PLA. The CAD models have been created in SolidWorks and exported in the STL format to be suitable for the 3D printers. The 3 colors used are pink, black, and red.
